Hawcreek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana was the first Rural Free Delivery in Indiana, starting as 3 experimental routes in 1896.  This website is designed to share the history, people, artifacts, and organizations that have made significant contributions Rural Free Delivery.  They paved the way to rural mail delivery as we know it today.
